Authentic Kamloops Cuisine
Hello toast is a must-see hotspot for Kamloops tourists. Simply because, it is a true Kamloops only restaurant and it is extremely popular, possibly the most popular Kamloops based restaurant, it also isn’t a chain restaurant so you can’t eat at Hello Toast anywhere else. It has been apart of the Kamloops community for over 20 years, while earning multiple awards, so it has earned its place in the heart of Kamloops culture.
Why Hello Toast?
As a tourist, you don’t want to eat from chain restaurants. You want to experience the culture of the city you’re visiting and if you’re from Kamloops you probably already know that Hello Toast is a super popular restaurant in terms of breakfast options.
They offer vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. It is very small, making it a very busy restaurant. For those who have eaten there before you are probably pretty lucky if you are able to get a table right away.
History
The original owner, Tina Laing opened the restaurant in 2004 as a bagel shop. In 2008 Tina handed it over to her daughter Amy Boughton, who then transitioned it into an eclectic breakfast/lunch restaurant. The restaurant is now currently owned and run by the daughter Amy Boughton and close family friend Brooke Keely. Most employees are family friends or friends of friends. Giving it a really warm and family-oriented vibe which we think is appealing to tourists visiting Kamloops.
Location
The restaurant is located on Victoria street lodged between a beauty salon and a greek restaurant. Hello Toast’s location is appealing to tourists because it’s next to many other tourist attractions. We think that this is important because once you finish your breakfast it’s in a convenient area to keep exploring Kamloops’ touristy areas, meaning you could walk down a block or two and visit riverside park and obviously the Thompson River or you could walk up the big yellow stair bridge or just downtown, in general, is a must-see location in Kamloops.
